Sixteen Wires String Quartet was formed by four friends Susie, Roz, Nicole and Debs in 2006 at King’s College London where they studied music and took instrumental tuition at the Royal Academy of Music. Ever since, the Quartet has been busy with engagements across the South of England, performing at awards ceremonies, corporate events, receptions, parties, weddings and in recital. They have also made numerous television performances, and have received support from well known public figures from Colin Firth to Billie Piper and Hardeep Singh Kohli. Recent highlights include playing at events such as the 2008 Media Guardian Awards, the 2009 Guardian Public Services Awards and the 2009 and 2010 Observer Ethical Awards, and performing in top London venues such as the IndigO2, Kensington Roof Gardens, the National Theatre, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Claridges and London’s Roundhouse. In a more surreal highlight, the quartet was also persuaded to pose for a photo shoot in a field of cows for Country Life magazine!
Each member of the quartet brings an eclectic mix of musical tastes and experience to create a fresh and vibrant ensemble performance. With a large, varied repertoire ranging from light classical music to contemporary pop hits, Sixteen Wires is able to provide subtle background music or lively entertainment for any event. In recital, the players enjoy performing works by composers from all eras, right up to present day.
